Kitchen In Gaza

Morning enters the house
with an ocean breeze, soft light
finding refuge
under the ceiling's arch.
A girl dressed
in her white veil and abaya
will carefully tend
to the leafy stalks
( already washed)
and copper pots
hanging near the sink.
Like a seagull
she glides toward the wet
smell of Spring, dazzled
by the strength
of her own reflection.
