La Sylphide

We not only long for the season
but the mirage of its echo and spirit...
Nina Tai Ling

You paint your dress
with a blend of moss and brown reeds blowing
near the river.

You cannot speak but other things
speak for you. That veil of wispy hair
waiting to lure and catch
the sun, those long stemmed flowers
blushing fragrance in your hands,

and that shadow of legs beneath
your sheer garments showing
the long fatigue of someone

who has wandered days
beyond the hills and hunger moon
to simply beg for spring.
