Femininty

They removed her from the front window

and placed her in storage.

She breathes in a corner --  cold

 clutching her oyster-silk gown

as if she were  guarding

the vintage soul of Balmain.

An evening stole

fallen under her bench

reveals its ripped lining, the fur

unable to warm or console.

Intimidated by  track lightning,

she looks down. Her bracelet clinks

like ice in a cocktail glass. The knell

of glamour.
